Challenge

Pressed customers felt misled

Prior to October 2021, there was a lack of consistency between what was shown as available on the Pressed iOS app and website vs what was actually in stock for pickup at a Pressed store. As a result, Pressed customers could order a juice online for pickup, only to arrive at the store and find out that the juice was actually sold out. This experience was especially fraustrating for three groups:

  • Pressed Customers
  • Pressed Retail Associates
  • Pressed Customer Service Associates

Goal

The road to an omnichannel experience

In order to create a true omnichannel experience for our customers, I took time to gather research through:

  • Interviews with Retail Associates to understand the in store friction of not being able to mark products as out of stock in real time.
  • Interviews with Store Managers to understand how
  • Interviews with Customer Service Associates to understand customer sentiments and pin point customer frustration.
  • Discussions with Director of Engineering to understand the technical limitations and ensure we have the data possible to inform product availability.
Solution

A true omnichannel experience

After 4 weeks of cross functional collaboration, I arrived at 3 solutions to our problem:

  • An internal Retail App that was launched across all 100+ Pressed stores nationwide that allows Pressed Retail Associates to update retail inventory in real time withe commerce inventory.
  • A location forward ordering sticky bar at the bottom of our iOS app and across all responsive web that uses the user's IP address to inform in stock products available at a nearby Pressed store.
  • New Shop page + PDP messaging with a "How To Get It" section that allows users to clearly see inventory availability in an effort to minimize inventory related frustration.
